Getting from  Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) to the Taipei Marriott Hotel

The Taipei Marriott Hotel is at No. 199, Lequn 2nd Road, Zhongshan District, Taipei. The nearest MRT is Jiannan Road Station on the Brown / Wenhu Line (a 5-minute walk from Exit 1).

  • Taxi - fastest door-to-door option. Pick up at the taxi stand outside Arrivals at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2. Journey time 40-55 min.
  • Taoyuan Airport MRT + city MRT - ride the Airport MRT (purple line) from TPE to Taipei Main Station (Express ~35-39 min, Commuter ~50 min). Transfer to the Green Line (Songshan-Xindian) to Nanjing Fuxing, then change to the Brown Line (Wenhu) and take it two stops north to Jiannan Road Station.
  • Airport coach - Kuo-Kuang Bus 1819 and other airport buses run to Taipei Main Station; from there take a short taxi to the hotel (around 15 min).
  • Hotel limousine - the Marriott can arrange a pre-booked car pickup directly from TPE when you reserve your room.

 

Travelling around Taipei.

  • Taxi - The most popular and best value taxi option is called 55688. You can download the app to your Android of Apple device or call 55688. Payment options include Visa/Mastercard. Uber is also available as an e-hailing option.
  • Public Transport - Taipei has an extensive network of both trains and buses to get around on. The easiest way to access these services is by purchasing an EasyCard. These are available in the MRT stations and also local convenience stores. It costs NT$100 ($3 USD), and you can reload it via machines located in stations and convenience stores. For more information check out https://www.easycard.com.tw/en/introduction?id=2

 

Paying your way

Taipei business accept a variety of payment methods. The most reliable will be cash, this is especially true of small vendors within Taipei's myriad of traditional markets.

Another option is the EasyCard, the same one used for public transport can also be used to pay for other services included tickets to tourist destinations. EasyCard users also get special discounts and offers, so lookout for any good deals. 

Credit cards are accepted in some locations, but don't rely on it.
